Event Highlights

KUMINTANG FOLKDANCE ENSEMBLE

The heart of Rhythm & Roots, the Kumintang Folk Dance Ensemble (KFE) is the official dance troupe of FILCAS and the highlight of this year’s festival.

Featuring dancers as young as 8 and as seasoned as their early 20s, KFE brings traditional Filipino dances to life with energy, grace, and cultural pride.

Audiences can look forward to stunning performances of fan favourites like Tinikling (Philippines’ national dance) and Singkil (Maranao royal dance)—plus a few exciting new numbers debuting this year. Don’t miss your chance to join the fun and try Tinikling.

BAHAY KUBO

Get ready for an absolute powerhouse performance! Bahay Kubo is more than just a drag collective—it’s a movement, a celebration, and brown and Asian joy incarnate.

Their name translates to "Nipa Hut," the ultimate symbol of Filipinx identity, community, and resilience. From the relentless heat of the Philippines to the unforgiving chill of the prairies, these queens stand strong and ready to command the stage.

Through jaw-dropping performances, live vocals, high-energy dance, and unapologetic queerness, Bahay Kubo weaves a vibrant love letter to the Filipinx diaspora. Expect pure creative energy, rich storytelling, and a celebration of community that will leave you cheering for more!

FLIP KIDZ

Bring on the energy! The Flip Kidz are a dynamic group of young dancers who are ready to light up the stage with their incredible talent, rhythm, and passion. Representing the next generation of cultural leaders and creatives in Saskatchewan, these young performers bring a massive dose of joy and excitement wherever they dance.

Combining hard work with pure fun, Flip Kids celebrates youth representation, community spirit, and the bright future of our local culture.

Come cheer them on and get ready to be inspired by their amazing performance!
